Senior Controls Engineer – Machinery Manufacturing

Location: New Hampshire, United States

A leading machinery manufacturer is seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join their growing engineering team in New Hampshire. This is an exciting opportunity to take a hands-on technical lead in the design, development, and implementation of control systems for high-performance industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for custom machinery.
  • Develop HMI and SCADA solutions to ensure intuitive operation and system visibility.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to deliver integrated system solutions.
  • Support troubleshooting, testing, and on-site commissioning activities.
  • Lead technical discussions with clients and vendors, ensuring alignment on project specifications and deliverables.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in system architecture, safety compliance, and automation standards.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing industrial control systems.
  • Proficiency with major PLC platforms (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA development and industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of control panel design and electrical standards (UL508A, NFPA 79).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer site visits and commissioning.

Desirable:

  • Experience in machinery manufacturing or capital equipment environments.
  • Familiarity with motion control, robotics, or vision systems.
