Job Description

A leading industrial organization is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to oversee HR generalist functions at a major manufacturing site comprising approximately 255 non-union and 359 union-represented employees. This individual will also serve as the primary lead for Labor Relations, managing activities for four (4) Bargaining Units.

Key Responsibilities

General HR Leadership:

  • Lead HR initiatives including recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes for new and transferring associates.
  • Administer compensation and benefits programs at the site level.
  • Develop and support learning and development programs.
  • Oversee employee relations, engagement, and retention in collaboration with site leadership.
  • Monitor attendance, leave of absence, ADA compliance, and payroll processes.
  • Develop and administer HR policies, manage corrective action procedures, and conduct compliant investigations.
  • Ensure accurate staffing processes, file maintenance, and documentation practices.
  • Support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives and required company training programs.

Labor Relations Leadership:

  • Conduct research and business costing in preparation for contract negotiations.
  • Lead first chair union contract negotiations, including mediation and strike preparedness activities.
  • Manage grievance and arbitration procedures.
  • Write and interpret contract language; participate in Master Agreement bargaining processes.
  • Foster positive relationships with union leadership, government agencies, and company representatives to resolve grievances and contractual matters.

Compliance and Collaboration:

  • Ensure activities align with applicable safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., GMP, food safety, responsible care).
  • Work collaboratively with individuals across diverse functions and backgrounds.
  • Be available to work extra hours or overtime to support site operations when required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a heavy industrial environment such as chemical manufacturing, refining, or related sectors.
  • Direct experience managing multiple unions and leading contract negotiations.
  • HR certifications and training in change management preferred.
  • Proficiency with Workday, SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, internet research, and email communications.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
