Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Transportation Safety & Risk Manager to lead our safety and risk analytics initiatives within the trucking industry. This role requires a strategic leader with a proven ability to manage large teams, drive performance through KPIs, and deliver data-driven insights to improve safety outcomes and mitigate risk.

The ideal candidate brings a unique blend of strong leadership, advanced analytical capabilities, and deep industry knowledge in trucking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Proven experience managing teams within safety, risk, or data analytics functions. Strong ability to provide coaching, mentorship, and strategic direction.
  • KPI & Performance Management: Design, implement, and oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive safety outcomes, operational performance, and risk mitigation. Ensure team adherence to metrics and performance targets.
  • Data Strategy & Reporting: Develop and execute data strategies to support risk analysis, compliance monitoring, and safety program effectiveness. Manage dashboards, reporting tools, and analytics platforms.
  • Risk & Safety Program Oversight: Partner with operations and compliance teams to evaluate risk, identify trends, and develop proactive safety measures specific to trucking operations.
  • Industry Expertise: Utilize knowledge of trucking regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices to guide decision-making and strategy development.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments including operations, legal, compliance, and HR to align on safety goals and risk protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement through data, feedback loops, and structured safety processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Leadership Experience: Minimum 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing 10+ direct reports. Proven ability to build, motivate, and scale teams.
  • Data & Analytics Expertise: High proficiency in data science, business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), SQL, and statistical analysis. Experience leading reporting and analytics teams is essential.
  • Trucking Industry Experience: Strong understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, and trucking-specific risk/safety protocols.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with telematics, ELD data, and predictive risk modeling in transportation.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, scaling logistics or transportation environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
