Amazing Trader opportunity within Secondary Marketing and Capital Markets. As a member of the Hedging & Trading team, you will help to protect the firm’s profitability by trading Mortgage-Backed-Security (MBS) derivatives. Additionally, this role is critical in maintaining various investor relationships to ensure maximum return when selling closed loans and servicing assets. Through this, a trader will help ensure the team’s effective operations and day-to-day functions for managing interest rate risk on our mortgage pipeline and selling closed loans into the secondary mortgage market.

Primary Responsibilities

• Trade Mortgage-Backed-Securities (MBS) with various broker dealers and foster professional relationships to ensure maximum liquidity for the firm
• Trade MBS Derivative (TBA) securities to hedge interest rate risk on the $2bn+ locked pipeline, and measure effectiveness
• Build strong relationships with a diverse set of investors on the secondary mortgage market
• Lead the process of selling closed loans into the secondary market to a diverse set of investors
• Responsible for producing and maintaining highly visible and impactful reports to senior management
• Produce profit and loss analysis on various executive strategic initiatives
• Build a deep understanding of mortgage secondary markets and pricing
• Perform reconciliations with investors to ensure accuracy of loan sale proceeds as well as Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) trades
• Ensure hedging reporting accuracy and work with investors to research mismatches
• Work across various corporate departments to ensure the seamless execution of loan sales, including QC, Shipping, Servicing, Accounting and Treasury
• Assist in developing and maintaining job aids for essential functions

Qualifications

• 1 - 4 years of professional work experience in Secondary Mortgage related roles, or related financial services field
• 2+ years of experience selling closed loans into the Secondary Market
• Prefer 1+ years of experience trading MBS or MBS derivatives (TBA) for the purposes of hedging interest rate risk on the locked pipeline
• An understanding of interest rate risk hedging best practices and concepts, including hedge ratios, duration and convexity
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
• Experience with financial analysis tools including, but not limited to Microsoft Excel
• Proficient in managing and analyzing large amounts of data
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and investor contacts
• Knowledge of Compass Analytics or Optimal Blue is strongly preferred
