Technical Service Representative – Commercial Equipment | Confidential Client | Lake Zurich, IL

Location: Lake Zurich, IL (onsite, bright & clean facility)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible start times available)

Compensation: $58,000–$60,000 annually

Employment Type: Full-time, Direct Hire

Department: Technical Services

About the Opportunity

A well-established manufacturer of commercial beverage equipment is seeking a Technical Service Representative to join its growing technical support team. For over three decades, this company has built a strong reputation for designing and producing innovative brewing and dispensing equipment used in restaurants, cafes, and major foodservice operations worldwide.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on field technician or service engineer who’s ready to step off the road and move into an office-based role . You’ll troubleshoot and support a range of advanced electrical and mechanical systems from a modern, well-lit facility equipped with simulators and test stations for hands-on diagnostics.

The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and focused on continuous improvement — ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, communicating with customers, and contributing to process development and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide phone and email support to field technicians, service partners, and end users on commercial brewing and beverage equipment.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues (up to 480V, single and three phase) using schematics, diagrams, and multimeters.
  • Document service cases, solutions, and parts usage in the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Assist with creating or updating service documentation, wiring diagrams, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with R&D, testing, and assembly teams to understand product functionality and resolve recurring field issues.
  • Participate in initial product training by shadowing technicians across R&D, testing, and assembly to gain full product knowledge.

Ideal Background

  • 3–5+ years of experience troubleshooting commercial or industrial equipment (field or in-house).
  • Strong electrical background , including experience working with 120V, 240V, and 480V circuits.
  • Proficient in reading schematics, using multimeters, and identifying single vs. three-phase power.
  • Mechanically inclined, comfortable diagnosing both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong communication skills — able to explain complex technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Basic proficiency with computers, Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems.
  • Associate degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or Electrical Engineering is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with foodservice, coffee, beverage, or water-based equipment is a strong plus.

What’s Offered

  • Full medical coverage – 100% employer-paid individual health insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield).
  • Comprehensive benefits including dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) with employer contribution.
  • Flexible start times and a comfortable, bright, and modern workspace.
  • Growth potential into technical writing, documentation, or process improvement roles.
  • Opportunity to get off the road while still applying your hands-on troubleshooting expertise.

Who Thrives Here

This role is ideal for a technically strong communicator — someone who loves solving problems, explaining solutions, and taking ownership of technical support issues. You’ll work directly with end users, technicians, and distributors to keep critical beverage systems running smoothly.

If you’re ready to use your technical knowledge in a stable, team-oriented environment with room to grow, this is an excellent opportunity to make that transition.
