Job Purpose

Join us at Opus, where we are on a mission to revolutionize the Automotive Technology Service industry, making the world a cleaner, safer place. We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to spearhead our web-based emissions and safety testing projects. In this high-impact role, you will be at the forefront of defining and documenting sophisticated software requirements that satisfy the needs of both internal and external customers, while ensuring alignment with obligations defined in large-scale contracts. You’ll contribute directly to innovative solutions that meet rigorous environmental standards and regulatory compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

• Partner with high-profile clients and internal stakeholders to meticulously understand and document needs for our state-of-the-art emissions, safety testing, and driver services software.
• Lead the charge in translating complex business needs into technical solutions that are customer-centric, contract-compliant, and strategically aligned.
• Employ cutting-edge documentation techniques, including advanced prototyping tools, flowcharts, and diagrams, to create clear, actionable software specifications.
• Establish and maintain project requirements using interviews, document analysis, business process descriptions, case scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis.
• Ensure all relevant stakeholders are involved throughout the requirements lifecycle and that their needs are represented accurately.
• Evaluate information that is acquired and reconcile conflicts to ensure a quality outcome. Identify alternative solutions and objectively recommend options based on evidence.
• Develop comprehensive documentation including high-level and detailed requirement specs, user documents, functional specifications, traceability matrices, and business workflows.
• Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to determine usability, performance, and feasibility of requirements.
• Author clear, structured work item tickets using tools like Azure DevOps or Jira, following best practices for SDLC
• Support software walk-throughs with clients to clarify functionality, resolve potential issues, and validate requirements alignment.
• Adapt to changing organizational priorities and actively manage change requests, risks, and timelines to ensure successful delivery.
• Collaborate with QA to develop test cases and validate compliance with documented requirements.
• Maintain and update requirements throughout the lifecycle of the project, including new features and enhancements.
• Support proposal efforts by aligning suggested solutions with long-term technical strategies.
• Utilize AI tools where applicable to improve efficiency in tasks such as requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation.
• Contribute to projects involving cloud-based architectures and SaaS solutions, identifying challenges and opportunities related to scalability, security, and interoperability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a senior business analyst role, ideally within the automotive technology, emissions, or safety testing sectors.
• Demonstrable experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or other SDLC management tools.
• Strong knowledge of best practices in authoring developer-ready work items/tickets.
• Experience working with internal stakeholders and external customers, including translating contractual obligations into actionable requirements.
• Experience using AI tools to enhance productivity in requirements or analysis work is a plus.
• Experience with cloud-based solutions or SaaS platforms is a plus.

Salary

$90,000-120,000
