Risk & Insurance Claims Analyst
Role supports the day-to-day operations of the internal and external claims management teams to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of risk transfer and risk mitigation processes.
The ideal candidate needs excellent quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to apply those skills across a variety of risk management and financial frameworks.
WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
• Maintain formalized claims service standards with service providers, outside claims adjusters and third-party insurance claim administrators and provide feedback on enhancements and changes to the program as needed.
• Oversee claims handling and coordinate with legal counsel, third-party adjusters, and internal leadership to determine resolution strategies and provide recommendations for claims settlements based on policy provisions.
• Analyze claims and risk exposures with detailed root cause analysis / corrective action metrics, financial impact analysis and cost of risk trending.
• Coordinate with other areas of the company with claims management responsibility for insured claims and self- insured claim administration issues relating to coverage interpretation or other matters relating to the insurance program.
• Provide feedback on the development and enhancement of internal policies and procedures regarding claims management and other risk control programs.
• Implement and monitor risk control initiatives and incentive programs.
• Attend and lead training sessions on risk control and claims management.
• Provide claims and risk input for actuarial loss projection methodology, insurance expense allocations, and loss analytics.
• Produce risk and claims management monitoring reports to support accounting and business unit management.
• Analyze claims data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Assist in RMIS type system administration and report development.
• May be required to operate a company vehicle.
• Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree, in risk management, insurance or related field, or five years experience is required.
• Professional designation related to insurance claims competency is strongly preferred.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Competency with risk management information systems and/or the TPA claims system.
• Leadership and teambuilding skills.
• Decision-making skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Advanced computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel are required.
• Travel by various means for claims-related matters up to 15% of the time is required.
• Valid U.S. driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle.
• Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
