The Department of Radiation Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine is recruiting for a Radiation Physicist to join our practice at the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center. Board certified or board eligibility is required. Doctoral level training is preferred but not necessary. Experience with gynecologic brachytherapy would be a significant strength.
The successful candidate will join our existing team of dedicated Medical Physics faculty and will be responsible for supporting quality assurance, machine maintenance, and calibration, patient treatment planning, and treatment support as well as technology and workflow implementation. This position will also be expected to participate in all aspects of the teaching activities for radiation oncology residents, medical students, medical dosimetrists, and radiation therapists.

The Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center first received NCI designation 13 years ago and since then has grown and matured holding SPORE grants in both Breast Cancer and Lymphoma as well as being home to the Human Genome Sequencing Center. This growth culminated in being designated an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2015. Excellence in clinical care, research, and education has not gone unnoticed as in the 2021 U.S. News and World Reports rankings The Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Baylor St Luke's Hospital was listed 25th in the nation, despite being one of the youngest centers on the list.
The Baylor St Luke's practice is a part of a 12-story outpatient facility at the O'Quinn Tower in the first quarter of 2023 in which Radiation Oncology will have the entirety of the ground floor. Four treatment vaults will be all newly equipped with Varian TrueBeam and Edge LINACs as well as 2 Siemens wide-bore CT simulators with one located in a dedicated HDR treatment vault. A robust research enterprise is available with BCM being an active member of NRG, SWOG, COG, and the Alliance cooperative groups.
