General Description

The Music Department invites applications for a full-time faculty position, commencing the Fall 2026 semester. The department seeks an innovative educator and practitioner whose expertise bridges music technology and musicianship, and who is committed to preparing students for contemporary careers in music and audio technologies.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in areas such as audio engineering, music production, sound design, electronic music composition, music theory, history, ensemble instruction and nonlinear audio production and the music industry. Additional responsibilities include maintaining an active professional profile, participating in department service, assessment of courses and programs, advising students in both educational and career goals, and engaging with the broader academic and creative community.

Candidates must demonstrate a record of professional experience in music technology, production, engineering and nonlinear audio production (i.e. video game audio, virtual reality and/or augmented reality applications, audio installations, etc..) and a strong commitment to educational instruction. A Master’s Degree in Music or an equivalent field of focus within audio technology is required.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Teach Courses in the Music Department: Subjects to include audio and music production, video game audio and nonlinear audio sound design and implementation, music history, theory and theory. Applied instrumental and ensemble instruction is also possible where applicable.
  • Facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and perform evaluations of student learning for all assigned classes, using each course’s standard course outline as a guide.
  • Work with other faculty and administrators in developing program curriculum, standards, and policies, including reviewing and participating in textbook selection process where appropriate.
  • Meet all classes and other scheduled responsibilities such as office hours and meetings at the designated times.
  • Commitment to the College’s Mission: Demonstrate a sense of connection and responsibility for helping the College to achieve success through a commitment to its mission, vision, and values.
  • External and Internal Community Relations: Actively participate in the academic life of the College; including participation in graduation, recruitment events, general assemblies, student life activities and other cross functional teams. Create learning opportunities for students inside and outside of the classroom including opportunities to teach dual-enrollment high school students.
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively, share vision, focus on people, initiate positive change, value differences and foster collaboration. Work with and inspire others to achieve college, department, and individual success. Proactively identify/address problems.

Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technologies for online learning and other technology tools to meet the learning needs of a diverse student population. Maintain office hours to meet with students outside of the classroom and respond to questions or concerns.
  • Leadership and Development: Commitment to professional learning and growth, student mentoring, and service to the profession. Remain current in the use of technology, developments within the field of discipline, and developments related to teaching and student success.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Music, music technology, audio engineering or a closely related field required.
  • Technical proficiency in audio technology software and hardware, including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Wwise, Melodyne, FabFilter plugins, Izotope plugins, Waves plugins, modular synthesis, analog & digital mixing consoles required.
  • Extensive professional experience in music production, non-linear audio, live and studio engineering and audio mixing. (Applicants must include a full discography and portfolio with application which includes the applicant’s role/position on each project).
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Active engagement in industry trends and emerging technologies (immersive audio, interactive media and non-linear audio, synthesis technologies and cutting-edge hardware and software tools) required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Established professional profile with evidence of national and/or international industry engagement in music production, engineering and/or performance preferred.
  • Demonstrated interdisciplinary artistic and media collaboration: music, art, film, gaming and/or computer science preferred.
  • Record of scholarly, creative and/or professional achievements preferred.
  • Experience in course and program development at the collegial level preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching within a community college.
  • Bilingual or other language proficiency.
