Job Description

The Manager of Risk Management is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing the daily activities of the staff, as well as organizing and assisting with ongoing risk management activities. This Mid-Level Management position is responsible for leadership, administrative, operational, technology, and risk management duties supporting LSU Health Shreveport administration and departments. This position involves performing various risk management professional duties in support of the core mission of the Office of Compliance and Risk Management, which is to assist LSU Health and its departments to thoughtfully, proactively, and collaboratively evaluate and manage risks to leverage opportunities and eliminate or mitigate adverse effects. Assists in developing and supporting LSU Health Shreveport risk management processes associated with managing risk at the LSU Health Shreveport. The Manager of Risk Management provides risk management consultation or risk assistance to the LSU Health Shreveport administration and departments. Provide guidance and advice, and provide training to all internal stakeholders to improve their understanding of related laws, policies, procedures, and potential risks.

This position reports to the Chief Compliance and Investigation Officer. Regular attendance is required to perform its functions between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. It is NOT a remote position.

Essential Position Functions & Duties

45% Compliance and Risk Management Operations Leadership

Provide risk management leadership to the LSU Health Shreveport Leadership. Assist the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer and other department management in developing and implementing the LSU Health Shreveport strategic vision and plans for the management of LSU Health Shreveport campus-wide risks. Develop and maintain relationships across campus and with key external partners.

Supervise department personnel in achieving institutional and departmental goals and objectives. The manager will assist leadership in monitoring the LSU Ethics, Integrity, and Misconduct Helpline for incoming reports of alleged misconduct; monitor laws, regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and best practices; and communicate any updates to the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer and department leadership regularly.

Maintains regular communication with the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer.

45% Compliance and Risk Management Processes

Supervise, facilitate, and advise on the risk management assessment process.

Provide risk Management consultation or risk assistance to the LSU Health Shreveport administration and departments in the development, operation, and administration of the risk management programs. including but not limited to liability, insurance, workers' compensation, risk financing, insurance risk, facilities, environmental and operational risk, research compliance and risk, clinical trials compliance and risk, HIPAA, FERPA, and other identified institutional and organizational risk.

In collaboration with administration and departments, identify, assess, evaluate, and mitigate or control operational, compliance, reputational, financial, strategic, and other risks affecting LSU Health Shreveport. Collaborates with departments to monitor and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding occupational health, safety, and risk exposure. Ensures the LSU Health Shreveport campus's compliance with occupational safety regulations and risk mitigation policies. Monitor the implementation of the progress of activities to address risks as agreed on and revise risk response as needed.

Research, develop, review, and implement LSU Health Shreveport policies, guidelines, best practices, and recommendations for corrective actions to reduce liability exposure. Provide outreach, education, and training to the LSU Health Shreveport community and other LSU Campuses related to Compliance and Risk Management. Develop and present high-level reports on the risk management programs and data. Keep abreast of, or research, relevant risks, best practices, trends, and laws.

10% Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The applicant must meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Auditing, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field,  plus (4) years of in-depth experience in Audit, Compliance, or Risk Management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate or Master's Degree in Auditing, Compliance, or Risk Management. The following Certifications are preferred: Certified Risk Management Professional( CRMP), Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) from the Health Care Compliance Association; Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors; Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics.

Salary Range: $80,000.00 -$90,000.00
