Job Description

To set up, maintain, and safely operate machinery while ensuring the accuracy, quality, and efficiency of all material running through the machine in a timely manner, adhering to Ben’s quality standards.

Daily Functions as a Machine Operator

1. Clean around machine, dump scrap cart every morning.
2. Daily calibration, check the first part of the day then make periodic checks throughout the day and calibrate if needed.
3. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions and document it; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
4. Confirm material matches shop drawings.
5. Inform yard attendant of material needed.
6. Maintains specifications by observing, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, and troubleshooting, replacing worn tools and tips; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
7. Making sure material is properly marked with heat number.
8. Ensure cut sheets are properly filled out and turned in daily to purchasing.
9. Maintains safe operations following all safety procedures.
10. Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
11. Contact tech support if a problem can’t be resolved within 5 minutes.
12. Angle Line and Plate machine Operators; Inspect material/pieces to ensure operation is producing to required job specifications from download. Material should be checked by another person only if you hand program.
13. All other duties as assigned.

1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
3. Must be reliable, self-motivated, team-oriented, and have adept communication skills.
4. Basic production or machine operating experience preferred
5. Ability to read a tape measure and basic schematics/blueprints
6. Must be able to reach and lift moderately heavy parts (70+ pounds) with up to several hundred repetitions per shift
7. Stand and operate machine continuously up to 10 hours per day
8. Experience with Peddinghaus and/or Voortman equipment is a plus!
