Why this role matters

We are seeking a Finance & Operations Leader to partner closely with the CEO and management team, overseeing financial operations, driving key business functions, and supporting growth across NJ Sweat and the businesses we invest in and operate. This is a leadership role for someone who can balance strategic finance with hands-on operational execution.

You love to work in spreadsheets and data analytics, and you thrive using project management tools and software to help keep the train moving. You work well in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and love to help build things. You have probably worked in a function that has tracked and managed operations of other businesses and have helped create dashboards and spreadsheets to keep things organized. You’d be successful in this role because you have experience with Excel or Google Sheets in analyzing data and bringing it to make business-based decisions. You have probably worked with business leaders and understand the ins and outs of business, including a P&L and the processes that accompany it.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

• Oversee P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet performance.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, utility and rent payments, and banking/landlord relationships.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling.
• Provide strategic guidance on debt/equity strategies and capital planning.
• Ensure strong compliance with accounting practices and internal controls.

Operations Leadership

• Build and manage KPI dashboards to track performance across all studios and brands.
• Partner with studio leadership to align operations with company financial goals.
• Manage insurance policies and serve as primary liaison with our insurance broker.
• Coordinate vendor contracts and purchasing for equipment, supplies, and services.
• Support franchise-level operations including membership reporting, sales tracking, and scheduling systems.
• Collaborate with leadership on operational best practices, staffing metrics, and performance reviews.
• Establish reporting structures that give full visibility into financial and operational health.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work with our strategic finance partner (SKC & Co.) on bookkeeping, tax, and audits.
• Communicate complex financial and operational insights in clear, actionable terms.
• Provide transparency and accountability to management and investors.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Finance & Operations Leader, CFO, or senior financial/operations executive.
• Background in startups, growth-stage companies, or multi-unit retail/franchise businesses.
• Expertise in finance and accounting, paired with operational management experience.
• Strong track record with KPI development, dashboard reporting, and performance management.
• Proficiency with financial and business platforms (QuickBooks, Xero, MindBody, Hapana, or similar).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. CPA or CFA preferred
