About the Role

Our client is seeking a driven and versatile Corporate Counsel to join their dynamic legal department. This role offers a unique opportunity for a business-oriented attorney who thrives at the intersection of legal strategy and practical execution. You will engage in complex legal work across litigation, employment, and contracts, while also rolling up your sleeves to handle day-to-day legal matters as needed.

The position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys strategic thinking but is equally energized by hands-on legal work – someone who’s comfortable advising senior executives in the morning and reviewing NDAs or drafting a response to an inquiry in the afternoon. This is an in-person position located in Elma, New York, and candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to the Western New York area.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on and manage a wide range of litigation and pre-litigation matters, including commercial and regulatory disputes.

• Provide day-to-day support and strategic guidance on employment law topics such as accommodations, leave management, internal investigations, and administrative charges.

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad spectrum of commercial agreements including supply, co-manufacturing, distribution, vendor, and confidentiality contracts.

• Partner with outside counsel on employment litigation and other legal disputes, contributing to strategy development and execution.

• Build cross-functional relationships and act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders across departments.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.

• Admission to practice law in the State of New York.

• 5-6 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house role, with focus in at least one of the following: commercial litigation, employment law, or transactional contracting.

• Ability to shift fluidly between high-level strategic matters and detailed legal execution.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated business judgment and the ability to offer practical, risk-balanced advice.

• Strong academic background – minimum top 25% of the class – and a passion for continued growth and learning.

• Comfortable working on-site in Elma, NY and collaborating closely with peers and business teams.
