Job Description

We Care Services for Children (We Care) is seeking a passionate, mission-driven Director of Mental Health to lead transformative mental health and developmental programs for young children and make a lasting impact on families in need.

The Director will oversee all mental health programs for children aged 0-5, including therapy, mental health consultation, wraparound, and school-based inclusion (primarily for children from lower-income families). In addition, you will manage a large clinical staff and ensure high quality and effectiveness of services. The Director also would determine operating policies and practices, and build strong partnerships with funding and contracting agencies.

This position reports to the Executive Director, is a member of the Executive Team, and is full-time & hybrid (3 days onsite in Concord and 2 days remote ).

Starting pay is $140k to $155k (depending on experience) with an excellent benefits package and growth potential .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical & administrative oversight of all mental health programs for children aged 0-5 (including determining operating policies and practices)
  • Lead, support, and develop a large clinical team, ensuring high service quality through training & development, collaboration with staff and administration, and continuous improvement
  • Provide leadership through a thorough understanding of both clinic and home-based models of early childhood mental health service provision
  • Build and cultivate strong partnerships with funding and contracting agencies
  • As part of the Executive Team, play a key role in helping develop and execute We Care’s strategic plan
  • Ensure adherence & compliance to legal and ethical standards (as they relate to treating young children), as well as compliance with all Medi-Cal EPSDT requirements

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in a mental health discipline
  • California licensure as an LCSW, MFT, or Psychologist
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience managing a mental health program for youth (preferably serving children ages 0-5 or other youth groups)
  • Passionate about supporting the mission of We Care Services for Children
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Self-starter who leads by example and is committed to collaboration and Reflective Supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate effectively and relate congenially with different stakeholders, (such as parents, children, clinic staff and providers, and community referral representatives)
  • Thorough knowledge of the pediatric mental health system and commitment to its standards, including patient/client confidentiality, mandated reporting requirements, and QA standards and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with different components of the mental health system
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and effectively manages multiple priorities
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Google Docs, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel, and familiarity with Electronic Health Records Systems (EHR)
  • Must clear physical exam and health screen with TB test; fingerprint clearance and background check; and maintain current certification in First Aid and CPR
