Overview
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of a warehouse/distribution center. This role involves efficiently organizing and coordinating all warehouse activities, including receiving, production, selection, storing, and shipping goods, as well as ensuring a safe and productive working environment. The Warehouse Manager oversees a team of warehouse technicians and collaborates with other departments to maintain smooth operations within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Warehouse Operations:
• Plan, direct, and coordinate all warehouse activities to ensure efficient and timely handling of goods.
• Oversee the receipt, inspection, storage, production, selection, loading and shipping of incoming and outgoing inventory.
• Maintain inventory control procedures to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize discrepancies.
• Utilize software to track inventory process orders and production and streamline processes.
2. Staff Management:
• Train, and supervise warehouse staff, providing clear directions and guidance to achieve team goals.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide regular feedback, and address any performance or behavioral issues.
• Organize work schedules and assignments, ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet operational demands.
3. Safety and Compliance:
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure adherence to OSHA and other regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and meetings, identify potential hazards, and take corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
• Train staff on safety procedures and best practices.
4. Facility Maintenance:
• Oversee the maintenance and organization of the warehouse facility and equipment.
• Coordinate repairs or maintenance services as necessary to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
5. Inventory Management:
• Develop and implement strategies for efficient space utilization and proper storage of goods.
• Monitor inventory levels, conduct periodic physical counts, research and reconcile discrepancies.
• Implement measures to reduce inventory shrinkage and loss.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., purchasing, sales, logistics and finance) to ensure seamless coordination of activities.
• Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and vendors to manage inbound and outbound logistics effectively.
• Report on warehouse performance, key metrics, and improvement initiatives to management.
7. Process Improvement:
• Continuously assess warehouse processes and identify areas for improvement in efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement best practices and make data-driven decisions to optimize operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
· Proven experience in warehouse management or related roles, with a strong understanding of warehousing principles, inventory management, and logistics
· Experience in the overhead door distribution field strongly preferred
• Knowledge of ERP systems and other relevant software tools.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehousing.
• Physical stamina and ability to work in a warehouse environment (lifting, standing, bending, etc.).
