We are partnering with a prominent general contractor in New York City that specializes in high-rise construction projects. With a reputation for delivering world-class projects, they are at the forefront of shaping New York's skyline. As they continue to expand and take on exciting new projects, they are seeking a driven and organized Assistant Project Manager to join their team.
Position Overview:As an Assistant Project Manager , you will play a key supporting role in ensuring the successful execution of large-scale high-rise construction projects. Working alongside experienced project managers, you will assist in coordinating project teams, managing timelines, budgets, and quality control, and supporting all aspects of project delivery. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within a dynamic and fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:Assist the Project Manager in the day-to-day management of high-rise construction projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget.
Support in the preparation of project plans, including scheduling, budgeting, and procurement.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure that materials and resources are available as needed.
Track project progress and assist in preparing status reports for stakeholders, addressing any issues that may arise and providing solutions to keep projects on track.
Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to safety standards, building codes, and quality requirements.
Help with the procurement process, including managing RFPs, obtaining quotes, and evaluating contractor performance.
Maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and daily reports.
Assist with on-site inspections and quality control to ensure the work meets both client expectations and company standards.
Attend project meetings with stakeholders and provide updates on project status, progress, and any concerns.
Contribute to resolving project challenges and help mitigate risks that could affect project timelines or costs.
Support the Project Manager in managing project closeout and ensuring the successful handover to the client.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Experience: At least 2-4 years of experience in construction, ideally within the high-rise sector.
Skills: Familiarity with construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project) and basic knowledge of construction processes, contracts, and scheduling.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, contractors, and clients.
Problem-Solving: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to address issues proactively and find practical solutions.
Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy and quality in all aspects of project work.
Knowledge: Understanding of construction contracts, building codes, and safety regulations.
Experience in high-rise or large-scale commercial construction projects.
LEED Certification or familiarity with sustainable construction practices.
OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
Knowledge of New York City's building codes and regulations.
