Job Title: Apparel Designer

Location: Carpinteria, CA (Onsite)

About Us: Forgeline Solutions designs and manufactures Berry compliant apparel systems for the most arduous tactical environments. We are pioneers and leaders in material science and innovation, we purpose-build from the ground up to meet the performance needs of elite operators engaging in extreme weather and terrain. Additionally, we are building a consumer facing branch of our brand. We are seeking an Apparel Designer to join our team and lead our brand design as we grow and evolve our business.

Position Overview: As Apparel Designer, you will play a pivotal role in the launch of Forgeline’s consumer brand. You will be responsible for desiging original concepts, ensuring the brand’s ethos and design philosophy are appropriately executed through a thoughtful and collaborative design process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Product Team to conceptualize brand vision
  • Create initial sketches and tech packs for all new products, according to the briefs created by the Brand
  • Responsible for maintaining sketches throughout the design cycle, as needed by the Product Team
  • Collaborate with the Product Team to select materials appropriate for each product that falls in line with the sourcing and costing goals of the product
  • Conduct appropriate market research to ensure all new product designs are on trend while remaining true to the original vision of the Forgeline brand
  • Participate in regular design reviews and update sketches as needed
  • Collaborate regularly with product developers, material developers, pattern makers, and brand marketers to assist in the execution of new and redesigned products.
  • Adhere to the design calendar
  • Participate in hands-on sample and prototype making as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design preferred
  • 5+ years of technical apparel design experience
  • Gear/Bags/Accessories/Hardgoods experience a plus
  • Expert level use of Adobe Illustrator
  • Ability to handle a high volume of styles and turn designs quickly
  • Basic knowledge of the apparel industry and manufacturing
  • Ability to sew and handle a variety of machinery is a plus
  • Experience with 3D design a plus (CLO, Browzwear, other)
